Papier Maché and Clay

THE EXPLORATION OF PAPIER MACHÉ and ANIMALISTIC MASKS

Made with

newspapers and cardboard / Papier maché technique

Those masks are a creative statement of our instinctive ability to connect with nature.

It is a call of honoring our vivid animal intelligence, as well as the one that surrounds us, that includes all natural landscapes.

It is a playful take on the importance of the perception of our environment with our sensory perception.

David Abram: 'for too long we’ve ignored the wild knowledge of our bodies, taking our primary truths from technologies that hold the living world at a distance’.

I have chosen animals for either their cultural mythical reference, or animals I vividly encountered in my dreaming sleeping state. Some are also in danger of exctinction.

Exploration of CLAY

My current field of research is the earthy material of Clay. It's like a dance.

Clay is an intimate relationshipbetween our inner landscape and the direct physical natural landscape.

Clay also has this element of ‘movement’ found in my work. This material s constantly being formed by the weathering (movement of water and mineral acids)
